Teaching strategies for assessing situations and responding appropriately from disengagement to escalation.
Providing tactics and maneuvers for deescalating situations when possible and escalating when necessary.
FIVE SELF-DEFENSE MYTHS
that get in the way of keeping you, and those you love, safe.
CONFIDENCE & PEACE OF MIND
The peace of mind that comes with knowing that you and your kids can protect yourselves is invaluable. Gain that confidence with the U.S. Taekwondo Center. Unlike other Martial Art schools, U.S. Taekwondo Center offers self-defense training that covers more than just kicking and punching. We start with disengagement and other non-violent options for avoiding and de-escalating hostile situations; then, we provide actions for handling physical altercations. Plus, our self-defense training takes each student’s age, size, fitness level, and physique into consideration to provide viable options for everyone to protect themselves. These are the same strategies and tactics taught to military and law enforcement.
REALITY SELF-DEFENSE VS. REAL WORLD SELF-DEFENSE
The term “Reality Self-Defense” is used commonly in the martial arts industry. At the U.S. Taekwondo Centers we teach “Real World Self Defense” by the U.S. Fighting Systems – the same curriculum that is taught to correctional officers, law enforcement in their academies, security professionals and the United States Armed Forces around the World.
“Reality Self-Defense” – Often, the words “Reality Self-Defense” is based on the reality of the instructor teaching it. After attending classes like this we have realized the “reality” is based on the person teaching it — which more times than most is not a reality at all.
USING U.S. FIGHTING SYSTEMS
At the U.S. Taekwondo Center, we use the U.S. Fighting Systems’ self-defense program because we believe it truly prepares individuals to handle dangerous, real-life scenarios. Led by former marine, corrections officer, and police officer, Dave Young, the USFS program provides tactical, field-proven, self-defense training for law enforcement, military, and civilians. It takes into account each student’s age, size, athletic ability, strength, and emotions; you don’t have to be a super athlete to utilize this self-defense training. As a parent, you can know that your 6-year-old is being taught feasible responses for dealing with strangers, not just high-kicks and throat punches that would likely be useless against an adult.
